Toys for Tots touched 1,190 local kids in 2013

I want to acknowledge the Walla Walla Valley community for its generous support of our local Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign the past seven years that I have been the coordinator.

In 2013 we distributed toys to 1,190 local children from Dayton to Milton-Freewater, ranging in age from newborn to 18 years old.

In the past seven years we have raised almost $10,000 to purchase toys locally and distributed toys to 5,100 children in our Valley.

This could not have been possible without the generous support of businesses, nonprofits and the individuals who supported Toys for Tots. It also could not be possible without the many volunteers who assisted me in storing toys, dropping off collection boxes, picking up boxes, counting toys, organizing applications, sorting toys for families and distributing toys.

It has been a humbling experience for me to be a part of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign and I have been honored to be a part of such a strong nonprofit with the single goal of making sure every child has at least a little Christmas.

I have been truly blessed and grateful by all the support of this community every step of the way.

After seven years it is time for me to step down and encourage another member of our community to take my place as our local coordinator.

If you are interested or would like more information please contact me. I promise you will find it a worthwhile charity and cause for our community.
