Another strong showing for Mac-Hi wrestling


BOARDMAN, Ore — Alyx Shaw and Blake Yensen led Milton-Freewater here Saturday in Riverside Rumble wrestling tournament action.

Shaw captured first place in the round robin tournament in the 145-pound class. Yensen followed and took the top prize in the 152 class.

Riley Chester, at 106, captured second and Jesus Diaz, at 126, also took home a second place ribbon for the Pioneers. Jose Oliva (132) and Kaden Kilburg (138) grabbed third places.

Preston Tarpley (138) and Gabe McAlester (145) wrestled to second place finishes in the JV bracket.

“All of the boys wrestled very well today,” Mac-Hi coach Beau Chester said. “Alyz and Blake once again led the team.”

Mac-Hi travels to the Oregon Classic Tournament Friday and Saturday.

“We are very excited for the challenge of the Oregon Classic in Redmond,” Chested commented. “We start with three duals against La Pine, Sweet Home, and Tillamook. They are all Oregon 4A schools.”
