RICHLAND — Richland lived up to its advance hype here Saturday in boys Mid-Columbia Conference basket ball action. The Bombers came into the Saturday battle with Walla Walla having hit the century mark in two of their last three games and on Friday they cooled of with an 83-55 win over Kennewick.

The Bombers shot the lights out to roar to a 25-6 lead after one. The hot shooting continued as the Bombers hit 34 of their 64 shots from the field, 53 percent, for the game, and the Blue Devils couldn’t keep up. Richland posted an 84-62 decision.

“That is a real good team,” Wa-Hi coach John Golden said. “They have a lot of weapons and can score in a lot of different ways.”

Wa-Hi got back on their feet to score 56 points over the last three quarters, but there was no slowing the Bombers on this night.

Erik Klicker led Wa-Hi with 19 points, Gabe Porter chipped in 16, and Wa-Hi hit 10 treys on the game, but it wasn’t enough.

Payton Radliff hit four treys and scored 24 to lead the Bombers. Nathan Streufert, Richland’s 6-foot-7 post, scored 17 from inside.

At Hanford Friday, the Blue Devils held the Falcons to two points in the second period and built a 25-11 lead at intermission. Wa-Hi continued to pull away for its first MCC road win with a 61-38 victor. Porter scored 15, Klicker added 13, and Ross Lake chipped in 12. Darnell Handcox grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for Wa-Hi. “(Given the Richland loss) this (Hanford win) was huge,” Golden commented. “We needed this win on the road and we played good defense to get it.”

Wa-Hi 7-5, 3-3 in the MCC, host Kamiakin Friday.
