Awesome Race organizers gearing up for next edition

Ready for another round of Awesome Race?

Organizers are.

Plans are brewing for Awesome Race II, the return of Walla Walla’s own homegrown version of “Amazing Race” where teams of two race through town, completing various tasks and challenges in the name of charity. Teams are eliminated throughout the event. The last five teams will win cash prizes for the charities of their choice.

Up to 40 teams will be allowed to compete, said Juli Dunn, owner of The Sweet Putt and one of the event’s coordinators. This year’s event takes place Feb. 22. The cost to enter is $60. Of that, $50 goes toward the winnings.

If a full complement of racers enters that breaks down to $950 for the first-place teams’ charity; $600 for second; $300 for third; $100 for fourth; and $50 for fifth.

Businesses participate to host the challenges and offer clues for the next stop along the course. Those interested can see more on The Sweet Putt’s Facebook page, or sign up here.
