Local business, employees did much for community

As Walla Walla’s Abajian Toyota prepares to turn over operations to the McCurely Auto Dealership in February, it is time to reflect on the positive contributions Abajian owners Scott Abajian and Gary Hanson and the Abajian team employees have had on our community.

Walla Walla Public Schools named Abajian Toyota one of its Partners in Learning last May. For years, Abajian Toyota has supported school activities and programs. It welcomed the Citizens for Schools committee into its facility to build and store yard signs for numerous school levy and bond elections.

Abajian Toyota demonstrated how business partnerships promote education and learning. Its Student of the Month program showcased the area’s talented youth and helped these outstanding students gain confidence and leadership skills. Its involvement in sponsoring the Baker Boyer Ducky Derby helped raise funds to curb child abuse and support Walla Walla youths. Abajian Toyota has also contributed to Big Blue Boosters and child identification safety programs.

On a personal note, Gary and Terri Hanson generously hosted a wedding shower for my wife and I, which we will always cherish. I served on the Exchange Club Board with Gary for years and I’ve always said if all dads were like Gary the world would be a better place. He is a role model who balanced business with family and community.

Congratulations to Scott and Gary for a successful business and passion for helping Walla Walla children maximize their potential and realize their dreams. Good luck in the future. .
