Strong schools benefit community

College Place residents, please join me (I live in the College Place Scool District) in voting yes on Feb. 11 to support our children and our community’s schools. This is not a new tax and it will not increase your taxes. The current levy expires at the end of 2014 and this levy will continue support for our kids.

What is funded by this levy? Day to day expenses and operations like transportation to and from school, special education programs, nursing services, technology programs, utilities, the Highly Capable (gifted) Program, extra-curricular and sports programs, and the cost of College Place students who attend Wa-Hi. In addition, it funds staffing needs above state levels, facilities maintenance, books and other curriculum needs.

The entire community benefits from having well-funded, strong and vital public school system. Better education means a more educated populace, higher wages, less unemployment, less poverty and less reliance on government assistance.

Let’s keep our community moving in the right direction by supporting our school levy. Get out and vote yes on Feb. 11.
