Blue Mountain Chapter 258 Pheasants Forever members will host their annual fundraising banquet on Feb. 22.
“Of all the outdoor groups having banquets these days, PF’s is by far the best meal, the best stuff for auction and the best attended,” said Bob Bloch with the Walla Walla Gun Club.
Banquet tickets will be sold offering membership, but folks can pay and attend just for the meal, which is new this year.
Contact BMPF President Jim Sonne at 525-3550 for reservation details or go to bmpf258.org to print a registration form.
Jim said that proceeds from their biggest annual fundraiser enable the group to continue its habitat and youth programs.
“PF has been a huge supporter of WWGC’s Youth Shooting Team. They’ve given us shells, lent us guns and provided a good deal of other support,” Bob said.
In addition to scholarships, PF gives funds to a number of youth activities, including trap-shooting programs at Dayton and Walla Walla High schools, Dayton 4-H and Waitsburg FFA groups and a new program for the Wa-Hi JROTC shooting team.
He also noted that Pheasants Forever members have opened up, or kept open a huge number of acres for hunting.
“Their work to promote hunting among young people is virtually unique among outdoor groups.”
One of PF’s fundraisers is a Cast & Blast “trip of a lifetime” to fish for salmon and steelhead.
Call Jim or Gene Weinmaster at 529-4692 for more details about this raffle. The winner will choose when to go, either this fall or in 2015.
The chukar hunting has also been above average.
Other PF officers include Mike Davis and Eric Tonn, vice presidents; Carl Bisgard, secretary; Gary Benson, treasurer; Larry Boe, habitat; Gene Weinmaster, youth; Tina Tonn, publications; and Tami Wass, banquet.
