Service League raises funds, offers mini grants


Providence St. Mary Medical Center Service League supports a variety of fundraisers to aid in support of the hospital. This includes thousands of volunteer hours and dollars raised in bake sales, raffles, the hospital’s gift shop, Books are Fun and Ideal Jewelry. In 2013, the many league volunteers raised $81,955.11, emailed Service League secretary Kathy Horner.

The league offers mini-grants twice per year. In late 2013 they disbursed $35,217.19 in 10 such grants to the Neuroscience Clinic for IMPACT Concussion Management software for area public schools; Women’s Services for HALO; newborn SleepSacks for Sudden Infant Death prevention; Supply Chain management for a motorized hand truck; Urgent Care for a motorized transport chair; Nephrology Department for gift to the Chronic Kidney Disease Fund; Internal Medicine for a V-scan ultrasound machine; Environmental Services for a battery-powered floor burnisher; General Surgery for a jackknife exam table; Orthopedics for an EKG machine; and to the Physiatry and Neurosurgery departments for a full-pelvis spine model.
