Koller leads Pirate girls past Liberty Christian

RICHLAND — The Pomeroy girls basketball team used its hot shooting to score a 60-48 win against Liberty Christian on Tuesday.

The Pirates connected on 52 percent of their shots, compared to only 31 percent for the Patriots. Pomeroy’s Torrie Koller led the way, as she downed eight field goals for a game-high 20 points. Savannah Ruark was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor for 12 points and Kacey Halbert added 11.

Pomeroy jumped out to a 37-25 lead after the first half, but Liberty Christian rallied to cut the deficit to six points heading into the fourth. But the Pirates’ defense restricted the Patriots to only five points in the fourth to secure the win.

Pomeroy hosts LaCrosse-Washtucna on Friday.
