Festival to benefit country school museums


DAYTON — The Blue Mountain Heritage Society’s annual Groundhog Fest on Saturday will be a tribute to country schools this year.

The event starts with a sausage dinner from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Columbia County Fairgrounds Youth Building.

Following dinner, Roslyn Edwards, acting as the “Smith Hollow Schoolmarm,” will tell tales from country schools around Columbia County.

Suggested donations for the dinner event are $12.50 per person or $35 per family. Tickets are available from BMHS board members, at the Village Shoppes 245 E Main St., Dayton and at the door. All proceeds will benefits BMHS’s Palus and Smith Hollow School museums.
