Man charged in connection with Umapine woman's death reaches plea deal

Jacob L. White, one of three men accused in the robbery, beating and subsequent death of a Umapine woman, has pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary in connection with the case.

White, who along with Matthew R. Hermann and Caleb L.J. Scott had been charged in the death of Joyce Key, reached a plea deal June 24 and entered the pleas June 25, Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus said in a news release today.

White's sentencing will wait until the disposition of his co-defendants' trials, which are set for this winter for Scott and next summer for Hermann, the release said.

Charges White had faced included robbery, burglary, kidnapping and murder, according to The East Oregonian.
