Officals to dedicate Burbank overpass for deputy who died after crash


BURBANK — A Walla Walla County Sheriff’s deputy who died in the line of duty will have a highway overpass named in his honor Wednesday.

Walla Walla County commissioners, Sheriff John Turner and other officials will dedicate the U.S. Highway 12-State Route 124 overpass for Deputy Mike Estes. Estes died from injuries in an crash in that area in February 2007 while responding to a 911 call.

The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. at the overpass.

After the dedication, county commissioners will attend a Port of Walla Walla meeting in Burbank where updates on Port projects in area will be presented. County commissioners will also report on county activities that are of interest to Burbank area residents.

The meeting will be held at county Fire District 5 main station, 460 W. Humorist Road, in Burbank.
