The Blue is going black.
The Blue Mountain Casino, the decades-old tavern-turned-casino at the corner of Isaacs and Wilbur avenues, will close its doors at the end of the day.
“Yes, it is true the Blue Mountain Casino is closing after end of business Sunday,” a post on the business’s Facebook page read. “We thank everyone who have supported the Blue over the years!”
Neither accountant/restaurant manager Robert Randall nor owner Patrick Jutz was available for comment on the closure at 2025 Isaacs Ave.
Once a lively part of Walla Walla’s homespun tavern scene, the all-ages dining room was famous for its roundtable sandwiches and rotating schedule of hosted musicians. In the early part of the new millenium, the establishment also grew its gambling operation with blackjack and poker tables.
That portion of the business was reportedly shut down last year in a sign of the business’s tumult. Rumors had swirled that The Blue was closing last summer. In social media postings last August, it was declared open for the time being. Operators made a call to the public on Facebook to help support the establishment for a stable future.
