A major change is coming to the Downtown Farmers Market this year.

Sundays will be out and Wednesdays will be in.

Market Manager Cheryl Thyken said in an announcement the midweek market will run 4-7:30 p.m. on South First Avenue. That market will replace the Sunday events, she said. The Wednesday market will begin June 4 and run through the end of September.

The traditional Saturday markets will continue at Fourth Avenue and Main Street behind City Hall. Saturday markets kick off May 3 and will run through the end of October.

Applications for vendors for the 2014 season are available to download at downtownwallawalla.com or can be picked up in person at the foundation’s office, 2 S. First Ave., suite 300.

A market meeting takes place March 12, 6-8 p.m. at the Columbia Rural Electric Association building on Melrose Street.

Two days later is the deadline for entries for the annual market poster contest. The winner will receive $200 and be featured on the 2014 poster. Entries can be turned in at the foundation office, or submitted to cheryl@downtownwallawalla.com. For more details, call 529-8755.
