Eric Rasmussen will be at the microphone in the second presentation of the Entrepreneurial Keynote Speaker Series at Walla Walla Community College this week.
His talk will be 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the college’s Center for Enology and Viticulture. A networking reception will take place after the presentation.
Rasmussen, managing director of Seattle-based Infinitum Humanitarian Systems, will discuss challenges and rewards of creating social enterprises in rural areas of developing countries.
Infinitum Humanitarian Systems focuses on job creation through socially-responsible manufacturing in water, energy, lighting, communications and medical devices, and also works with multiple partners on clean water provisioning for hospitals, schools, and other critical locations.
Rasmussen spent 25 years on active duty with the U.S. Navy. Among his deployments he was sent to multiple natural disaster sites. He also served on the Afghanistan humanitarian support planning staff within the U.S. Central Command Headquarters and as a humanitarian response physician on the Iraq Disaster Assistance Response Team for the opening of the Iraq WAr.
