PASCO — Walla Walla High Schools boys golfers teed off their new season and tied for sixth at a 12-team invitational at Sun Willows here Monday.

“It was a tough day, it was windy, but not too chilly,” Blue Devils coach Jeff Neher said. “We’re a young team, with one junior, two freshmen and two sophomores, but they’re dedicated to the game.”

Freshman Ely Kimball led Wa-Hi with an 86, followed by Tyler Morrison’s 87, Nate Towner’s 88 and Parker Dressler’s 89 accounting for the Blue Devils’ team score of 350.

Troy Aquilar carded a non-counting 92.

Richland’s Drew McCullough medaled with a 2-under 70.

The Bombers won the match with a 310, followed by Hanford’s 328, Eisenhower’s 332, Kamiakin’s 339, Wenatchee’s 340, with Southridge and Wa-Hi at 350, Moses Lake 359, Chiawana 380, North Central 382, Kennewick 385, and West Valley 388.

“We’re going to work on our putting, we had a lot of three-putts,” Neher said. “We’re going to clean up our play a little, and learn from every round we play.

“We’re getting to know each other,” he said. “We’re having fun.”

The Blue Devils head to Kennewick for an invitational Friday at Tri-City Country Club.
