St. Patrick’s Day celebrations abound in Valley

WALLA WALLA — There will be celebration of St. Patrick’s Day with Irish music, food and themes around town.

For a bit of a jump on the festivities, The Rogues will be playing 6-8 p.m. today at Olive Marketplace & Cafe, 21 E. Main St. Saturday, the band will play 7-10 p.m. at Laht Neppur Ale House, 53 S. Spokane St. with a $5 cover.

Tiller’s Folley the Way Cool Band, which is an Irish Party Band, will be playing 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, at the Wildhorse Sports Bar, 46510 Wildhorse Blvd., Pendleton. There’s no cover charge. For information, call 800-654-9453, ext. 1777.

Traditional Irish jigs and reels coupled with soulful songs and lively Irish dancing will be featured when local Irish band, the Blarneycats, appear with dancer Elizabeth Tackett and her students at two venues in town. On Friday, the group will perform 6-9 p.m. at Laht Neppur Ale House, 53 S. Spokane St. On Sunday, the performance will be 5-8 p.m. at Olive Market Place and Café, 21 E. Main St.

The Blarneycats will also appear 7:30 p.m., March 21 at St. James Episcopal Church, 719 Pierce St., Milton-Freewater, with a reception following.

For some nonmusical but green-themed events, there will be the M-F Junior Show Green Pancake Feed, 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, at the Community Building, 109 N.E. Fifth Ave., Milton-Freewater.

This is an all-you-can-eat green pancakes with sausage, eggs, fruit and a drink meal.

Admission at the door is $4-$7. The proceeds go to local 4-H and FFA activities.

The Shamrock Bingo TEAM Relay American Cancer Society fundraiser will start 4:30 p.m. and go on until 8 p.m. Saturday, in the multipurpose room at Waitsburg Elementary School.

Games are $1 each. A chili feed will be available for $4. For more information, call 509-386-6960.

The sixth annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration and fundraiser for Catholic Charities and Catholic Schools of Walla Walla will be 4:30-8 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church, Blanchet Hall, 408 W. Poplar St. There will be dinner and entertaiment. Tickets are $5-$10 and $35 for a family with children under age 3 free. Tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased in advance by calling the Catholic Charities office, 525-0572.

On Sunday, there will be a St. Patrick’s Day Skate at the Ice Chalet, 213 S. First Ave., at 4:30 p.m. Regular admission and rental fees will apply. 509-525-2575.
