Bulldogs pick up softball win over Indians

DAYTON — After the Touchet softball team tied the game at three in the top of the seventh inning, Dayton picked up the deciding run in the bottom of the frame.

Mia Becker was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the seventh.

She then stole second and advanced to third on a single by Hanna Becker. With two on and no outs, Kelli Moore hit a ground ball to the shortstop, who’s throw home was too late to tag out Mia Becker.

“This was a pretty even matchup today,” Dayton coach Desirae Jones said. “All three pitchers threw well. Our defense struggled, allowing six errors, which we will really need to improve before league starts.”

The Indians were down 3-2 heading into the seventh, but Jennifer Aceves reached base on an error and reached third on a wild pitch. After a strikeout, Touchet’s Melissa Creek brought home Aceves on a sac fly.

Lexus Ward threw a complete game for Dayton with four strikeout and two walks.
