KENNEWICK — The Walla Walla High School boys soccer team saw its dreams of a 2-0 league record smashed with a little more than a minute remaining against Kennewick Saturday.
That was when a Kennewick player scored on a loose ball from a corner kick to break a 1-all tie and hand the Blue Devils their first Mid-Columbia Conference loss of the season, 2-1.
“In the second half we controlled the ball and dominated most of the play,” Wa-Hi coach Mike Washington said. “We dominated most of the way until they got their goal.”
Kennewick, hosting the game at Lampson Field, scored the first goal of the game three minutes in.
Wa-Hi got onto the scoreboard with about 10 minutes gone in the second half.
Christian Sergovia launched a free kick across the Kennewick box which Francisco Sanchez launched into the left-hand corner of the net.
