POMEROY — The Pomeroy softball team picked up its first win of the year against Garfield-Oakesdale-Tekoa-Palouse, 15-12, on Monday.
The Pirates posted 15 runs on only six hits, while GOTP clubbed seven hits. Pomeroy hung seven runs on the board in both the third and fifth innings.
“I was very proud of how well they played and thought they were smart and aggressive,” Pomeroy coach Jessica Nelson said. “It was encouraging to see and it shows we will be competitive in league play. There is nothing more exciting than watching these girls improve and win.”
Pomeroy’s Haley Thomas started the game before being relieved by Kacey Halbert in the third inning. Halbert finished the game.
The Pirates host Liberty-Christian on Saturday for a doubleheader.
