A new line of private-label guitar strings made by the owner of Walla Walla’s own music shop Blazing Guitars has caught fire at the Isaacs Avenue retail store.
Dan Goodall’s “Blazing Guitars Private Label Professional Guitar Strings” are the latest service development to come from the shop, a treasured resource for musicians — budding and experienced — instrument repair needs and more.
In the months leading up to Christmas the strings were introduced. But what’s remarkable is that they’re now outselling all other brands in the store, according to an announcement.
Walla Walla native Goodall reportedly developed the line with quality and savings in mind. The manufacturer’s name was teased as “a major American string manufacturer whose name is familiar to virtually every serious player.” The strings are available in popular size sets for acoustic, acoustic electric and electric guitars.
Blazing Guitars was started by Goodall and Bart Wuest in a retail space on downtown’s Colville Street. It quickly expanded into neighboring space, and after three years there moved to the larger spot at 1726 Isaacs Ave., where it’s been since early 2011.
Goodall, now the sole proprietor, is an accomplished musician known also as “The Reverend Danny G.” He has toured nationally with a number of bands, including as lead guitarist for Jimmy Lloyd Rea and the Switchmasters for more than 25 years.
In addition to retail sales, Blazing Guitars has donated guitars and other equipment to support the “Instruments for Kids” program of the Walla Walla Blues Society, plus other youth-oriented programs, such as Rock Camp.
