PALOUSE — Waitsburg-Prescott roughed up Garfield-Palouse 14-2 here Thursday afternoon in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader to begin the Southeast 2B District baseball season.
W-P was leading 6-4 midway through the fourth inning of the nightcap when the game was called due to darkness. It will be resumed at a later date.
Talen Larsen pitched all five innings of the first game and recorded his first victory of the season. He also helped his own cause with three hits and three runs scored.
W-P pounded out 13 hits in the game, with Devin Acevedo collecting two singles and a double and driving in two runs. Kyle Gradwohl had a pair of hits and Kyle Dozier smashed a bases-loaded triple to highlight W-P’s four-run fourth inning that put the game out of reach.
Waitsburg-Prescott, which evened its season record at 3-3, is idle this weekend and resumes play on Tuesday when it travels to Burbank for a single non-league game starting at 3 p.m.
