PASCO — Walla Walla Community College’s softball team secured an NWAACC tournament berth here Saturday with two Eastern Region romps over Columbia Basin.
The Warriors took game one by a final of 22-1 and seized the nightcap, 17-1, to clinch the East’s No. 4 seed heading into next weekend’s NWAACC tournament in Portland.
“Today was the best we have played all year,” WWCC coach Mark Michaud said. “We spent some time this week working on our mental game with Peak Performance Coach Brian Cain and I would say that it worked!
“Brian works with some of the best softball and baseball programs in the country ( University of Alabama, Arizona State, and Texas Christian University to name a few),” Michaud said. “He really added a lot to our practices this week.
“This team has worked extremely hard all year and we as coaches are very excited that we have the opportunity to compete in the NWAACC Championships,” Michaud said. “We played our best when it meant the most and now we get the opportunity to see what we can do.”
