Jill Hanson

Jan. 8, 1960 — April 27, 2014

Jill Ann (Wallace) Hanson, 54, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2014, in Granite Bay, Calif., surrounded by her family and dear friends. She was born in Turlock, Calif., on Jan. 8, 1960, to Dr. Carleton and Mrs. Patricia Wallace.

Jill grew up in Corona, Calif. She graduated from La Sierra Academy in Riverside, Calif., in 1978. After high school, she completed her BSN at Loma Linda University in 1983. She then worked with her father as an orthopedic nurse for 14 years, after which she moved with her family to Walla Walla.

Jill married Jerry Hanson in 1981 in Loma Linda. They were together for 29 years. Jill was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed life, and demonstrated her love to her family, friends and those less fortunate through a myriad of loving acts of kindness—including flowers, food, dance, listening and laughter!

Jill is survived by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Carleton Wallace; her daughters, Julia Jovanov of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Georgia Hanson of Sacramento; her two sisters, Patricia Marsh (Christopher) of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; Pamela Bishop (Michael) of Murrieta, Calif., and their families.

Jill fought a very courageous battle against lung cancer for over four years before passing into rest where she awaits the trumpet of the Lord her Savior.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Loma Linda University Church, 11125 Campus St., Loma Linda, Calif., at 11 a.m., Sunday, May 18, 2014. A service will also take place at the Walla Walla University Church Sanctuary in College Place, at the same time, via live stream. Graveside services are private, limited to Jill’s immediate family only.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made in Jill’s name to Walla Walla Valley Academy, 300 S.W. Academy Way, College Place, WA 99324. With memo to the “Jill Hanson Memorial Fund.”
