The Walla Walla Union-Bulletin won four awards in the 2013 SPJ Northwest Excellence in Journalism Contest. The results were announced Saturday night in ceremonies in Seattle and Portland.
The contest honors the best in journalism in SPJ’s Region 10, which includes Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. The Union-Bulletin competes with newspapers with circulations of 25,000 and less.
U-B Chief Photographer Greg Lehman won three awards. He received first-place awards for portrait photographer for “Man and Dog,” and for his portfolio.
He also claimed a third-place for sports photography for a shot during a Walla Walla High School vs. Kennewick High School football game.
Reporter Rachel Alexander was awarded third place in government and politics reporting for “Weston: A town in turmoil.”
