Verizon Wireless has reached a milestone in the rollout of its 4G LTE coverage, the communications company has announced.
The launch of 4G LTE is “substantially complete” in Washington and across the country, the company said this week. The coverage is now available to more than 298 million customers in 500 U.S. markets.
The service had been launched in Walla Walla and surrounding areas in the Tri-Cities during the second quarter of last year as part of the company’s more than $67 million investment in its network in Washington. Much of that investment was dedicated to the 4G LTE rollout. Since the formation of the company in 2000 it has invested about $1.5 million in its Washington network.
The 500th market to get the 4G LTE service was Parkersburg, W. Va.
The service expands bandwidth and communications capabilities for Verizon customers. The 4G LTE network covers more than 99 percent of Verizon’s 3G network footprint.
