Wa-Hi’s Arceo, Quaresma drop regional tennis match

SPOKANE — Walla Walla High girls tennis doubles players Mari Arceo and Jaime Quaresma had their season come to an end with a 6-3, 7-5 loss to a team from host Mead High at the Mid-Columbia Conference/Greater Spokane League Regional tournament on Saturday.

“I was really proud of how Mari and Jaime rebounded from a tough loss in the district championship to take Mead to task in their regional match,” Blue Devils girls coach Keven Peck said. “Mari and Jaime played really well — had a few more long deuce games gone their way, they would have been through to the next round. It was great to see them end their high school careers feeling like they had played their best tennis.

“It was tough to see it come to an end, but Mari and Jaime have a lot they can be proud of (6-1 in league play and second place at district),” he said. “They always represented Walla Walla High School, their parents and me with energy, integrity and class. They will be missed.”
