Local golfers played the first of four Washington Junior Golf Associaton sub-district tournaments on Thursday at Columbia Point Golf Course.
Walla Walla High School senior Spencer Locati and DeSales junior Cameron Richman led area prep baseball players as first-team selections to the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association All-State team.
After winning its first two games, the Irish lost to eventual champion Toutle Lake in the semifinals.
The DeSales Irish baseball won its third state title in as many years against Napavine on Saturday.
Waitsburg-Prescott’s Kobie Brown took fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.44) and fourth in the high jump (6 feet, 0 inches) to place in two events here at the Washington 2B track and field meet at Eastern Washington University on Saturday.
DeSales trackster Allison Wujek led her team with a third place finish in the 100 hurdles (16.07) and an eighth place finish in the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches) at the Washington 2B championships.
BELLINGHAM — DeSales golfer Emily Baumgart played for Team USA at the Loomis Trail and Semiahmoo golf courses near Bellingham this weekend, helping the team of top Washington and Oregon players defeat Team Canada, 19.5-16.5.
DeSales did not capture the Regional softball championship here in Regional 2B softball action, but the Irish collected a more important prize as they punched their ticket to their fifth consecutive state tournament.
