ASOTIN — Pomeroy saw its football season come to an end here Tuesday night at Asotin High School with a 40-22 loss to Colton in the first of two abbreviated playoff games to determine the Southeast 1B-8 League’s third entry into postseason play.

“I’m just going to do my best, run my race,” College Place state 1B/2B state cross country qualifier Kenneth Rooks said in an UB interview prior to Saturday’s state championship race. “I’m just going to try and tell myself that I can do it.”

The Walla Walla Valley will enjoy strong representation at the Regional Cross Country Championships Saturday in Medical Lake near Spokane at Fairways Golf Course, as well as Class 4A at Wandermere Golf Course.
