1981 - 2012
Ellis Herman Bremer, 30, was born Dec. 21, 1981, in Choteau, Mont. He died Aug. 12, 2012, in Portland. Ellis graduated from Weston-McEwen High School in Athena and received a bachelor of science in criminology with an emphasis on law enforcement from Southern Oregon University.
He was hired by Wackenhut/G4S in 2005, promoting through the ranks quickly to major. He was project manager of security for the U.S. Olympic trials in Eugene in June 2012. He had transitioned into a successful small business owner at Caps & Corks in Portland.
Ellis Bremer is survived by his parents, David and Carrie Bremer of Athena; sister, Haley (Henry) Benitez; nieces, Astrid, Penelope, Fleur Benitez; life partner, Sheila Scott; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his great-uncle, Arthur Bremer.
Ellis began and ended his career track with Wackenhut/G4S Security. He’ll be remembered for creating a path of strength and security to all around him, professionally and personally. Ellis defined himself with his intelligent, witty, compassionate and entertaining approach to life. His oral articulation, creative writing prowess and unique tattoo designs exemplified his attitude in life. His newest ink was a personal design involving the words “In time it will be fine.”
Memorial donations made to the family will be used to set up a scholarship fund for a recipient studying criminology or criminal justice.
