1950 - 2012
James “Jim” Allan Ryckman of Waitsburg died at the age of 62 at his home on Aug. 21, 2012. Jim was born on June 21, 1950, in Pendleton to Viola Hays and James Ryckman. His siblings are Patricia Holden, Luara Greagory, Michael Ryckman and Charles Ryckman. Jim married his lifelong love Dorothy Price Ryckman on Dec. 7, 1976, in Walla Walla.
The children of Jim and Dorothy are James (Lauri)Ryckman, Jenney (Scott) Ryckman Thomson, Jacqueline Ryckman, Janell Ryckman and Justina Ryckman. Jim has five grandchildren, Christopher Ryckman, Allison Ryckman, Haley Ryckman, Jonathan Thomson and Jenna Thomson. Jim also has numerous nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his parents; his brother, Michael Ryckman; and his nephew, Evan Hale.
Jim retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in May of 2012 as a signal maintainer. Jim loved his job. His other interest was in woodworking and he created amazing pieces of furniture in his wood shop. Jim was an amazing husband and father. He is greatly loved and will always be missed by those close to him.
The funeral will be at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012. Memorial donations can be directed to the American Cancer Center’s research.
