Joyce Ann Davis

1950 - 2012

Joyce “Joie” Ann Davis was born Jan. 13, 1950, in Seattle to Robert Chastain and Letta Schultz Chastain. She graduated from Portland State University in 1972 with a bachelor of arts in English. She moved back to Walla Walla in 1979, following the birth of her second child. She ran an in-home daycare for many years and was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital and Meridian Mortgage, before becoming a fiscal technician for the State of Washington, working at WorkSource Walla Walla and the state capital. Always a lover of the arts, Joyce spent her free time attending local plays and concerts, gardening and taking dance lessons at Ballroom Dance Design in Walla Walla.

She is survived by her children, Jamie Davis of Walla Walla, Jackson Davis of Carnation, Wash.; her two grandchildren, Nicholas and Hazel; and her siblings, Michaele, Steve and Robbie. Joyce passed away on Nov. 15, 2012, at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia.

A graveside service will be held on Dec. 15, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Joyce’s life at 12:30 p.m. at the Rancho Villa Community Center, Dalles Military Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation in Joyce’s name.
