Shirley Ann Mains, 62, passed away on Dec. 14, 2012, after a short, hard-fought battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Milton-Freewater. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in memory of Shirley Mains to the Providence St. Mary’s Regional Cancer Center (Special Needs) in care of the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.
Shirley was born in Springfield, Ore., to Eugene and Gisela “G.G.” Parrish. She attended schools in Milton-Freewater, graduating from McLoughlin High School. Working in a variety of jobs early on, Shirley found her home at Smith Frozen Foods in Weston. During her almost 36-year career there, she spent many of those years with her younger sister in the payroll department. She was fortunate to work with both of her sisters at Smith. She most recently was the benefit coordinator in the personnel department.
Shirley recently became a member of the Elks Lodge in Milton-Freewater and was enjoying making new friends and being a part of an organization that gives back to the community. She loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley will be remembered for her beautiful smile and the laughter she brought to those around her. She was a very special lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
Shirley is survived by her son, Michael Mains and wife Jennifer Nelson of Tacoma; a daughter, Charity Hutchins and husband Ray of Walla Walla; her beloved grandchildren, Haley and Trenton Hutchins of Walla Walla; father, Eugene Parrish of Selah, Wash.; two sisters, Chris Larson and Debbie Parrish both of Milton-Freewater; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
