Clyde Henry Standfill, age 74 years, died at his home on Nov. 20, 2012. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the family plot in the Waitsburg City Cemetery with Pastor John Deming officiating. Reception following at the Ye Olde Townhall. Clyde was born May 16, 1938 in Glendale, Calif. His parents were Homer and Minnie Turner Standfill. He attended most of his schooling in Rose Lodge, Ore. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent three years in
Germany. On May 25, 1969, he married Betty White in a ceremony held in Winemuca, Nev. They made their home in Vancouver, Wash., before coming to Waitsburg in 1981. He worked in the mobile home industry until his retirement in 2002.
He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a guitarist and lead singer in a band called the “Clyde Standfill & The Melody Makers.” They traveled the Northwest and California and recorded several songs. He enjoyed his family and discussing politics to anyone who would listen.
He is survived by his wife, Betty at the home; three sons, Virgil Standfill of Visalia, Calif., Steve Corrie of Vancouver, Wash., Todd Corrie of La Center, Wash.; five daughters, Lynn Standfill of Visalia, Calif., Jennifer French of Walla Walla, Tiffany Baxter of Waitsburg, Darrlea Standfill of Shelton, Wash., and Kathleen Powers of Portland, Ore.; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Gene Standfill of Kennewick, Gary Standfill, Robert Standfill and Reese Standfill all of Selah, Wash., Thomas Crafts of Springfield, Ore.; one sister, Rose Hatfield of Selah; a dear friend, Cliff Van Brunt of Vancouver, Wash. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Hunter Marick; a sister-in-law, Sue Standfill; and dear friend, Harvey Van Brunt.
