Miriam B. Fellows of Walla Walla and formerly of Milton-Freewater passed away on Nov. 24, 2012, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla at the age of 100 years. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater. Concluding services and interment will follow at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in memory of Miriam Fellows to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
Miriam Bell Fellows was born on Feb. 21, 1912, the daughter of Carl B. and Ruth (Ackley) Dysart in College Place. She attended area schools and graduated from Walla Walla High School. After graduation she began working in sales at the Beehive Clothing Store in Walla Walla and later the JC Penney store in Milton-Freewater. On March 29, 1947, she married Robert R. Fellows. Together the couple lived in Milton-Freewater and Miriam began working and later became owner of La Mona’s Dress Shop in Milton-Freewater. She later sold the business and continued to help Bob with their orchards until his passing in 1998.
Miriam was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Milton-Freewater and the First Presbyterian Church in College Place. She also was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Order of the Eastern Star, Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Milton-Freewater Elks Lodge #2146. Miriam enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making hook rugs.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Lourene Daggett of Walla Walla; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Her parents; husband, Bob Fellows; sisters and brothers, Irene Baker, Genevieve Rockey, Denton Dysart and Carl Dysart Jr., preceded her in death.
