Betty J. Norton, Milton-Freewater, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her husband and children on Sept. 2, 2012, at the age of 74 years. She was born in Grand Junction, Colo., on July 31, 1938. She married Wayne Norton after a two year engagement in 1956. They were married 56 years. Wayne and Betty moved their family to Milton-Freewater in 1969.
She has six surviving children, Mike Norton, Randy Norton, Jolene Norton, Jody Norton, Scott Norton, Misty Norton; and was preceded in death by Jeanette; two siblings, Frank Brandon and Mary Brown; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Betty’s passions in life were to be a wife and mother. She loved to dance with Wayne, bake bread, cake decorating, gather the family around the table for homemade family dinners, play the piano (her favorite piece, the Spinning Song), sew, knit socks, crochet, collect house plants and photography. Betty’s favorite advice for life was, life is a big classroom, live, grow and learn.. It’s the journey, not the destination that’s important.
