1922 - 2013
Agnes J. Spanish, 90, passed away at Eagle Springs in College Place.
She was born on June 3, 1922, in Walla Walla to Anthony and Giovanni (Locati) Zaro. A lifetime resident of this area she attended College Place schools. She married Joe Spanish on Sept. 8, 1940; they had two children, Patricia and Roy. Mr. Spanish passed away April 29, 1965.
She worked many years at Gardner’s Department Store and Drumheller Co. until their closings. Agnes loved to work in her flowers, cook and bake. She made the best meatballs ever. She was a beautiful, classy lady, wife, mother, grandma and friend. We love you, miss you and will always cherish our memories.
She is survived by daughter, Patricia A. Austin; daughter in-law, Ann Tarwater Spanish; grandchildren, Elizabeth Delavan, Joe (Ginni) Delavan, J.C. (Amanda) Spanish; great-grandchildren, Rachel Nicholas, Dean Delavan, Jocelyn, Zoey and Samantha Spanish; great-great-grandchildren, Josh, Simone and Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; son, Roy Spanish; four sisters; and three brothers.
At her request there will be no service. Private family interment will be at Mountain View Cemetary. Memorial contributions can be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice through Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St. Walla Walla, WA. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at
