Dorothy Corinne Kulisek

1926 - 2013

Dorothy Corinne (Wright) Kulisek was born April 7, 1926, in Lunenburg, Vt., to Clayton and Leona Wright. She grew up on the farm owned by her father. She attended Lunenburg grade school, starting at age 5, then on to South Lancaster Academy in Massachusetts. She went to Atlantic Union College for her nursing education. She worked as a nurse at New England Sanitarium then moved to Denver. She was working there when she met David Martin Kulisek, the man she fell in love with for the rest of her life!!! They were married in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Dec. 28, 1955.

Dorothy and David spent their lives working in small, self-supporting academies. When they retired in 1984, they moved to Monument, Ore., where they were caretakers of a llama ranch. As their health began to fail they moved to Milton-Freewater to be closer to their boys, and became members of the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons; five brothers; and two sisters. She leaves with the blessed hope, one sister, Muriel Cloos of Ohio; two sons and families, Bill (Annette) of Otis Orchards, Wash., and Steve (Lisa) of Walla Walla; seven grandchildren, Alicia Melcher, Jake and Austin Wardsworth, Marty Kulisek, Katie, Jeffry and Mackenzie Kulisek; two great-grandchildren, Grace and Sophia Melcher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Feb. 24, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Milton Adventist Church, 1244 N. Elizabeth St., Milton-Freewater, with Elder Ole C. Olesen, officiating. (The church also has a driveway entrance off of Highway 11 at the north end of town.
