1972 - 2013
Ty Ryan Tarter, 40, of Portland, died Saturday Feb. 9, 2013. He was born to Norman Elwood Tarter and the late Joan Benny Mansfield on Dec. 16, 1972.
Ty attended Walla Walla High School until his senior year and graduated from Elgin High School in 1991. He received his nursing degree from Walla Walla Community College in 1997. Ty worked as a registered nurse in Portland.
Ty enjoyed adventure and travel. He lived and visited many amazing places including Germany, Spain, Thailand, Hawaii, Japan, Jackson Hole, Wyo., Crested Butte, Colo. He traveled across a large portion of the U.S. as an adventure travel guide with Trek America. Ty did not stay put for very long; he was always looking for that new adventure. His latest adventure was hitting the open road with his new Harley-Davidson and learning Japanese. Ty made friends everywhere he went.
He always had someplace to go or someone to visit.
He is survived by his father, Norman Elwood Tarter; brother, Trent Tarter; grandmother, Jesse Tarter; sister-in-law; four nieces; three nephews; aunts and uncles.
Memorial service to be held at Blue Mountain Community Church, 928 Sturm Ave. Walla Walla, Saturday Feb. 23, 2013, at 1 p.m.
