Walter Johnson, Jr.

1935 - 2012

Walter (Walt) Johnson 77, of Kennewick, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at his residence. Born in Portland on July 15, 1935, to Walter and Mary (Irby) Johnson he lived most of his life in Kennewick and Walla Walla.

Walt was a very caring man, and friend to many. He loved baseball and the Mariners, camping and gardening. He loved to grow vegetables, but better yet to give them to people to enjoy. He loved his boat and being out on the water, fishing, road trips and spending time with family and friends. He worked as a plumbing contractor and ran his own business — Merit Plumbing in Walla Walla and then Johnson Plumbing in Tri-Cities until his retirement. He was proud to be a member of the NRA, Elks, Clover Island Yacht Club and Plumbers Fitters Union #598.

Walt will be remembered as being loving, generous and kind. He is survived by his only son, Wally and wife Tracy; two grandchildren, Brandon and Kylie all from Maple Valley, Wash.; as well as Marilyn Van Tine from Colfax, Wash.; two step-sons along with their families from Colfax and Kennewick. He will be forever missed by all who knew him.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Mueller’s Chapel of the Falls, 314 W. 1st Ave., Kennewick. Reception to follow.
