1936 - 2012
Richard Dean Seibel, 76, went to be with his Lord on Dec. 22, 2012, at his home in College Place. Richard was born in Milton on Jan. 12, 1936, to John H. and Darlene R. LeFore Seibel.
Richard grew up in the Milton-Freewater, Walla Walla area and in San Diego, Calif., and attended local schools. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army, and was a paratrooper in an Airborne Division. He loved working with wood and refinishing old furniture. At one time, he had an antique furniture store in the Los Angeles area. He retired from Western Towing in San Diego in 2008. He and his mother moved back to College Place in October of 2010. He loved baseball and was a lifelong Los Angeles Angels fan. He was an animal lover his whole life and had many pets, including Peanuts, his cat who survives him.
Richard married Carol Lee Sitenga in Reno, and they were later divorced. He married Darlene M. Cummins in Lewiston, Idaho, on May 2, 1955. They later divorced. In 1972, he married Barbara A. Smith, and they later divorced.
Richard is survived by son, Gary D. (Teri) Stewart, of Walla Walla; daughter, Stephanie J. (Edward) Hennelly, Butte, Mont.; mother, Darlene R. Hagstrom, College Place; half brothers, Ron Seibel, Northern Calif., and Steve Seibel, Lake Tahoe, Nev.; half-sister Susan Wheeler, Walla Walla; two granddaughters, Carly Rapp, Walla Walla and Michelle (Karl) Haumberger, Park City, Mont.; grandson, Michael (Natosha) McCullar, Butte Mont.; three great-granddaughters, Raquel Haumberger, and Kailyn and Kennedy McCullar; lifelong friends, Pat Gale and Gary Johnson, Walla Walla. Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Dena Chechel LeFore, and Conrad Seibel and Elizabeth Hurt Seibel; father and stepmother, John H. and Eunice Gribbling Seibel; stepfather, Edward L. Hagstrom.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring.
