Herberta F. “Bert” Weis of Boise and formerly of Walla Walla passed away Jan. 13, 2013, at the Valley View Life Care Center in Boise at the age of 89 years. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Central Christian Church in Walla Walla with Pastor Roland Shanks officiating. Concluding services and interment in the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla. Memorial contributions may be made to TIA National Stroke Association through the funeral home.
Bert was born June 17, 1923, in Walla Walla, the daughter of Herbert H. and Minnie Mae Hays Foster. She grew up in Walla Walla and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1941. On Sept. 21, 1940, she married Raymond R. Weis in Lewiston. Bert worked at “Diamonds,” a 5&10 cent store as a sales clerk. She had also worked as a sales clerk for exclusive dress shops including Jolee’s; Gardners; Jacquelines; Dorothy Greenoughs; and the Bon Marche. She enjoyed dancing; socializing with people; trips with her husband Ray in their motorhome; being with family and trips on the Oregon coast; cruises to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and the Carribbean; long walks and relaxing and enjoying nature in McCall, Idaho — she especially enjoyed seeing the wild red fox. Ray preceded her in death in November 1985. She is a member of the Central Christian Church; Narcissa Rebekah Lodge LD Club #2; Beta Sigma Phi; Coast Guard Auxiliary; Tri-State Steelheaders Association; Lady Elks; and the American Business Women’s Association.
Bert is survived by three daughters, Sherry Weis of Walla Walla; Diana Ray of Mesa, Ariz.; Deloris Mock and husband Stan of Boise; granddaughters and husbands Shannon and Marc Frohardt of Boise, Kristin and Troy Hagen of Boise; great-grandchildren, Stan Frohardt, Kevin Frohardt, Jenessa Frohardt, Trevor Hagen, Jacob Hagen, Jarod Hagen; nieces and nephews.
