Former Walla Walla resident Kevin Lee Heisey, age 40, died Dec. 5, 2012, in Sun City, Ariz. He was born Sept. 15, 1972, in Walla Walla to parents Gary and Kay (Cunnington) Heisey. He attended Prospect Point grade school, Garrison Junior High and Walla Walla High School. He participated in many sports such as basketball, baseball, soccer and track. He was also involved in BMX racing and was proud of the many trophies he won.
His lifelong love of music began with playing the saxophone and drums in the school band.
In 1988 at age 16, Kevin and his mother moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he attended Grace Christian School and Service High. He also attended University of Alaska-Anchorage for a short time. Kevin enjoyed the Alaska outdoors, fishing, snow machining and spending time at the family cabin. He was a member of the IBEW and was employed by Municipal Light and Power and the Municipal Paint and Sign Shop. In 1993 he married Nichole Twilley and they had four children, Hannah, Makena, Jakob and Jesse. In 1996 the family moved to Palmer, Alaska.
Kevin and family moved in 2001 to Arizona, where he enjoyed the desert climate. He was a big fan of the Arizona sports teams, especially the Arizona Cardinals. Kevin was employed by the city of Peoria and the city of Glendale.
Kevin was a friend to many and had a kind and generous nature. He was a proud parent whose children were his life. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his granddaughters, Sophia Rose and Kristi Anne.
He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Services were held at Ganley’s Buckeye Funeral Home and interment was at Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Cemetery in Buckeye, Ariz.
Kevin was preceeded in death by grandparents, Clyde and Doris Heisey and Glen and Leona Cunnington; uncle, Lloyd Cunnington; and cousin, Tammi Whitsett. He is survived by his children, Hannah, Makena, Jakob and Jesse Heisey of Arizona; father, Gary Heisey and wife Susan of Mississippi; mother, Kay Awe and husband Clayton of Alaska; sister, Kim Stevens and husband Mark of Walla Walla; brother, Jason Heisey and wife Chantelle of Mississippi; half-sister, Lisa Wilkins and husband Torsen of Idaho; and step-brothers, Len, Stan, Jason and Justin Awe of Alaska.
