James was born in Walla Walla to Cliff and Sharon Giles. He graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1979.
He was a regular patient of Shriners Hospital in Spokane where he underwent 17 separate surgeries throughout the first 16 years of his young life. Despite this James set many goals in his life and achieved the majority of them. He was an accomplished chef and worked at several places in Walla Walla, Tri-Cities and Hermiston. He also owned and operated his management consultant and advisory specialist business. His hobbies were motorcycles, gun collecting and working with K-9.
Survivors are his mother, Sharon J. Oyen; sister, Kimberly Oyen; brother, John Oyen; numerous nieces and nephews, all of Walla Walla; , daughter, Chelesia Giles, Kennewick; sister, Jerri Lynn Giles, Texas; uncles, Kenneth E. Helfer, Kennewick, Parran A. Giles (Sunny), Yakima. Preceded in death by his father, James C. Giles Sr. (Cliff); brother Robbie Giles; grandparents Jake and Mildred Helfer, Anita and Parran Giles Sr, all of Yakima.
The memorial will be held at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, 300 S.E. Myra Road, College Place, from 1-3 p.m. on Jan. 26. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital in Spokane or the Blue Mountain Humane Society.
