Whitman Orchestra tunes up for series of firsts
The Whitman Orchestra of Whitman College has embarked on a week of firsts. The student-led ensemble, represented by 34 string players, was slated to perform at Portland State University on Wednesday, with another Portland-area performance Thursday at Rose City Park United Methodist Church. The traveling marks the first time in recent years that the group has traveled out of the Walla Walla area to perform. But those performances are just preparation for a concert Friday in Yakima at the 2012 Washington Music Educators Association annual conference.
