Local students performed in an AcroKnights sneak preview at the Walla Walla Balloon Stampede for three shows to be held this weekend in the Walla Walla University gym. The team is coached by Walla Walla Valley Academy Athletic Director Scott Schafer, center. Jack Wanichek, a 9-year-old Prospect Point Elementary School student, is flying high at the right. The theme of the weekend shows is “The Hat,’’ and the gym will be transformed into a Dr. Seuss fantasy land with a colossal fish bowl, fluffy trees and Seuss characters. “The Cat in the Hat” will narrate. Shows are 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at Walla Walla Valley Academy, Book & Game Co., the Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce and Walla Walla University Bookstore. Prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children, or $10 and $5, respectively, at the door. Proceeds will help pay for student mission trips to work with orphanages.

I love this group and always look forward to seeing them. One of my favorite parts about last year's performance was the little boy who did the chairs. I don't know his name, but I hope you will bring him back. What a thrill he gave us!
