Chapin Bowen’s photo, “Breakfast outside the Tacoma Commons Mission,” taken in 1930, captures men using a wheelbarrow as a makeshift stove. This image is one of many examples of ingenuity in “Hope in Hard Times,” an exhibit to be featured at Kirkman House Museum from Jan. 17-early April.
