First, the U-B shows its colors yet again with regard to Sheriff John Turner. Its incomplete bold headline, “Sheriff Turner campaign mailer raises questions” should have added “by Cooper,” because that’s the gist of it, confirmed by the story itself: “ ... Bieber gave (Turner) the quote to use in the campaign-card mailer.”
The choice Nov. 4 is simple. I’ve lived in this county my whole life, except six years in the Navy. I worked for 37 years as a deputy sheriff. I know both candidates for sheriff.
I’m 91 years old and was married to, and got along very well with, a three-term Walla Walla County commissioner — Harmon Johnson.
As a member of the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office staff for over 30 years, I feel the need to share my view on a political issue for the first time.
We live in a democracy and one of our most important rights is the right to vote. If you haven’t completed your ballot, do so now and get it in by Election Day, Nov. 4.
I have watched with interest the dynamics of the county sheriff’s race. I am, of course, very involved as co-chairman of Sheriff John Turner’s re-election campaign committee.
