WALLA WALLA - A Kennewick man who helped stage a robbery last spring was sentenced to jail Monday.
Aaron R. Weissenberger, 36, was ordered to serve the time in Walla Walla County Jail. Superior Court Judge Donald Schacht imposed a 30-day sentence and gave Weissenberger credit for four days, leaving 12 days remaining to be served. The remainder of the sentence was converted to time on the Department of Corrections work crew.
Weissenberger was convicted by a jury Nov. 3 of second-degree theft. He had been charged with stealing money from the Burbank Sun Mart in April by helping stage a robbery there while working as a clerk in the store.
According to officials, he and a co-defendant, Joseph D. Shackett, 22, of 18 Piper Road, Burbank, agreed among themselves to steal the money from the store's safe and cash register by making it look like a robbery.
Shackett pleaded guilty in late August to second-degree theft. He also received a 16-day sentence.
