MILTON-FREEWATER - "I really can't tell you who my starters are yet, even with the games starting soon," Mac-Hi baseball coach Craig Angell said with a laugh. "Really, I don't know who they will be. All of the kids know that and are working hard to earn their positions."
Angell did say that "the backbone" of this year's Pioneers squad will be the seven seniors, some of whom have been starting since their sophomore year.
Starting on the mound will be a trio of pitchers - seniors Ryley Croghan, lefty Jake Knight and Randy Romero. Out of the seven seniors, five of them pitch. On the Mac-Hi roster there are 17 pitchers.
"We have enough pitchers," Angell said, "that we shouldn't have any sore arms. We also have all different kinds of pitchers. We have guys who throw hard, those who have good breaking stuff and others who throw to spots."
While Angell didn't commit to a No. 1 pitcher, he did have good things to say about Knight.
